This challenge is designed as a focused starting point for your Arabic learning journey into the year ahead. Not to promise miracles, but to help you actually begin.
Over the next seven days you will receive one small, clear task each day. Each task takes about ten to fifteen minutes and is designed so that beginners, intermediate learners, and more advanced speakers can all work with it in their own way. You do not need to prepare anything or search for materials. We have done that for you. All you need is ten to fifteen minutes of your day to practice.
Practicing a new language is often difficult not because you lack motivation, but because you are doing it alone. You may feel unsure where to start, what to practice, or whether you are doing it right. This challenge is made to remove those barriers. You will receive simple guidance and practical materials, and you will be part of a community that practices alongside you.
You will not become fluent in a week, and that is not the goal. What you will gain is confidence, familiarity, and a better sense of how Levantine Arabic sounds and works in everyday life. Step by step, task by task, you will start building momentum.
All materials in this challenge are created by our team for our Patreon community, where we publish study materials throughout the year. For this seven day challenge, we selected the materials with one principle in mind: keep it simple, useful, and realistic. Arabic is learned over time through small, repeated efforts. This challenge is your first step.
Let us begin, one day at a time.
Today you will practice 71 sentences. 🤩
That may sound like a lot, but you will quickly start to notice a clear pattern. All sentences are written in the present tense and don't change fully, but stick to a recognizable rhythm, making it easier to catch similarities and differences. In Challenge #1 we explain to you how to get started.
Let's get practicing!
Learning a language means mastering its verbs. 99% of all sentences in Arabic contain a verb, if not all of them. So, let's get to practice with 3 frequently used verbs. In Challenge #2 we explain how to do this exercise for different levels.
Trying to grasp the conversations around you is always a good exercise to improve both your listening and speaking skills in the long run. Instead of static vocabulary, we listen to everyday conversations in today's exercise.
Today we are picking up some culture and vocabulary through a song of the famous Fairouz. Fairouz is a Lebanese artist, known for her nostalgic and poetic songs. Often about love, both for people and the places she cares about. Let's practice!
In today's challenge we listen to a story and study the transcript to improve our listening skills. Get ready for a fun exercise!
Today you will put everything you practiced this week into action. Your task is to describe your day in Levantine Arabic. This can either be in writing (Arabic or Arabizi) or in speech. Keep it simple and focus on expressing yourself, not on being perfect. More instructions can be found in Challenge #6.
You have finished your challenge! We are super proud of you, that's a great start into your language practice for the new year to come.
Now it's time ot get more concrete about how you will continue this challenge throughout the rest of the year. And we are here to help!
