About us

How did we get here?

Hi there! We’re Majd and Amy, the duo behind Simple & Easy Arabic.

Our journey began years ago when Amy became Majd’s first Arabic student, and he started developing his own curriculum. Then, when COVID hit, we became friends, neighbors, and partners in creating online tools to make learning Arabic simple and fun.

What started as a small project quickly grew into something much bigger. Over the years, we’ve built a passionate team, created courses and tools, and connected with a global community of learners who inspire us every day.

Our journey has proven that with the right support and a little creativity, anyone can learn Arabic. And we’re here to help you make it happen!

What’s the best way to start learning Arabic?

Language learning is never one-size-fits-all, though there are some general truths. If you're a complete beginner, we recommend starting with:

  1. Levantine Arabic Basics – Learn common Arabic words and phrases for everyday conversations. We have lots of videos for this on our Youtube and Patreon.

  2. Listening to Arabic Podcasts – Our Simple & Easy Arabic Podcast helps you get used to spoken Arabic in context.

  3. Speaking from Day One – Don’t wait! Start practicing simple Arabic sentences right away. Find a language buddy online or book a class with our teachers.

What is Levantine arabic?

Levantine Arabic is a spoken dialect of Arabic used in Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, and Palestine. It is widely used in daily conversations, media, and informal settings but is not typically used in formal writing or news.

Unlike Modern Standard Arabic (MSA), which is used in formal contexts like news and literature, Levantine Arabic is the language people actually speak in the Levant region.

Should I learn dialect or Modern Standard Arabic (MSA)?

It depends on your goals! We prefer to start with dialect (Amieh) because it is much easier for daily conversations and will help you communicate with locals naturally.

  • Learn Levantine Arabic if you want to speak Arabic with native speakers, especially in Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, and Palestine.

  • Learn MSA (Modern Standard Arabic) if you’re interested in formal writing, news, and literature.

Read more about the differences in our blog.

How long does it take to learn Arabic?

Learning Arabic depends on your dedication, study habits, and practice time. On average:

  • Basic Conversational Arabic: 3–6 months (with daily practice)

  • Intermediate Level: 1 year (able to hold full conversations)

  • Fluent Arabic: 2+ years (comfortable in all situations)

The more you immerse yourself, the faster you'll learn!
